What is Title I?
Title I is the use of federal funds to support effective instructional strategies that are based on scientific research and strengthen the school's core academic program.
School-Wide Program
A Title I Schoolwide Program is a comprehensive reform strategy designed to upgrade the entire educational program in a Title I school. The goal is to improve the achievement of the lowest-achieving students.
Parent Input: Parents are encouraged to be involved by providing feedback on event surveys and participating in future family events.
Reading Intervention Program
What is Reading Intervention?
Intervention for students who find reading and writing skills difficult to learn.
Intense and focused instruction designed to increase students’ skills in the area of phonemic awareness (hearing individual sounds), phonics (matching sounds to letters), reading, and writing.
Small Groups | 30 Minute Lessons | 5 Days a Week | In Addition to Classroom
The main focus areas for the program are:
- Phonemic Awareness
- Phonics
- Spelling
- Connected Text
STUDENT SELECTION: Identified through WSD assessments including but not limited to iReady, reading level assessments, spelling inventory, phonemic awareness screener, and
phonics screener.
HIGHEST NEED: Students with the highest need in identified grade levels will be serviced first.
MATERIALS USED: Often times these materials are woven together to best support each student. Based on student need the program includes many different resources including Orton Gillingham, 95% Group, Heggerty, and Road to Reading.
